Hema’s work has appeared in The Michigan Quarterly Review, The Common, New Letters, The Pinch, Fourteen Hills, Litro Magazine, and more. Her work has been shortlisted for the 2024 Narrative Fall Fiction Prize and has received three Pushcart Nominations.
A 2019 San Francisco Grotto Fellow, she’s an alumnus of The Kenyon Writers’ Workshop, The Sewanee Writers’ Conference, The Napa Valley Conference, and The One Story Conference.
She lives in San Francisco and is working on a linked stories collection.
